Jeep adds $80 Wrangler special edition

The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Smoky Mountain is the latest special edition in the automaker’s year-long “Twelve 4 Twelve” program, which rolls out a new limited-run Wrangler every month. This is the 10th installment, and the black-themed special edition celebrates a Jeep enthusiast event called the Smoky Mountain Invasion in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where the SUV was unveiled.

Unveiled at the Smoky Mountain Invasion event in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, this version is based on the Wrangler Willys trim. The choice of the Willys as the foundation shows Jeep’s intent to balance affordability with off-road credibility, as this trim occupies the third-lowest position in the current lineup. The $80 premium over the standard Willys is minimal, suggesting that the edition’s value lies more in its aesthetic and symbolic details than in substantive mechanical upgrades.

Blacked-out look with regional touches

The Smoky Mountain edition wears 17-inch black wheels and a Gloss Black grille, elements that contribute to its aggressive, monochromatic appearance. The wheels are paired with standard 33-inch tires, though buyers have the option to upgrade to 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain rubber. While the example shown is black, Jeep says it will be available in other colors, including Joose orange and Hydro Blue.

The hood features a “Smoky Mountain” decal, a visual cue that immediately distinguishes the model from other Wrangler variants. The SUV also comes with a body-color hardtop and matching fender flares. The Sky One-Touch power soft top is optional, offering a full-length, electrically retractable fabric roof.

Inside, the seats are upholstered in Premium Black Ferndale cloth with an embossed texture of angled lines. Terracotta stitching accents the black cabin. The gear shifter includes a medallion depicting a bear and cub—a nod to the wildlife of the Great Smoky Mountains. The rear swing gate also displays a 1941 Willys parachute graphic against a starry mountain backdrop.

For off-road use, the Smoky Mountain edition includes steel rock rails, a locking rear differential, and Dana 44 axles with a 4.10 ratio. A trailer hitch is standard.

The Smoky Mountain edition’s details, from the bear-and-cub medallion to the parachute graphic, are designed to resonate with those who identify with the Great Smoky Mountains.

Pricing and availability

The Smoky Mountain edition is only available on four-door Wrangler models. Buyers can choose between the 2.0-liter turbo-four or the 3.6-liter V-6, but only with an automatic transmission—the six-speed manual isn’t offered.

Jeep says the Smoky Mountain package adds $80 to the Willys trim, which starts at $48,230 for the 2027 model year. This base price includes standard features such as heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The bear-and-cub medallion on the shifter is a direct reference to the wildlife that inhabits the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
