Aston Martin Vanquish Hits 25 with Special Edition

Aston Martin will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Vanquish with a limited‑edition model at Monterey Car Week next month. The special version, called the Vanquish 25, will be offered as a coupe and as a Volante convertible, with 25 units for each body style.

Design cues echo the original launch

Both variants will be painted in a new shade named Skye Silver, developed by the brand’s Q division. The hue pays tribute to the Tungsten Silver finish that marked the Vanquish’s debut in 2001. Exterior updates include foil‑wrapped side sills, a Q‑engineered exhaust finisher and stainless‑steel strakes along the side vents. A bespoke “25” badge, also appearing on the headrests, distinguishes the anniversary model.

Inside, the cabin receives subtle touches. A start/stop button highlighted in bright red replaces the standard control, while laser‑etched trim inlays add refined texture. Seat perforation patterns have been revised, and buyers can choose upholstery in Onyx Black, Oxford Tan or Phantom Grey. These changes are largely cosmetic; the underlying chassis and interior layout remain unchanged from the standard model.

Performance unchanged, but still impressive

The Vanquish 25 retains the 5.2‑litre twin‑turbo V12 that powers the current line. The engine delivers 824 bhp and 738 lb‑ft of torque, propelling the coupe to 0‑62 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 214 mph. By contrast, the original 2001 version produced 460 bhp and 400 lb‑ft from a 5.9‑litre naturally aspirated V12, achieving 0‑60 mph in roughly 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph.

Pricing for the limited edition has not been disclosed, but the base model starts at about £335,000, suggesting the anniversary variant will command a premium above that figure. The exclusivity of a 50‑unit run, combined with the special paint and interior details, is likely to attract collectors seeking a unique piece of the brand’s history.

While the performance figures remain identical to the regular Vanquish, the model’s significance lies in its timing. After several production gaps—between 2007‑2012 and again from 2018‑2024—the nameplate has reappeared, and the anniversary edition highlights Aston Martin’s effort to sustain interest.

The decision to launch a special edition at Monterey aligns with the venue’s reputation for showcasing high‑end automotive launches. The event’s “caviar‑soaked” atmosphere provides a fitting backdrop for a car that blends luxury with track‑ready capability.

From a broader perspective, such anniversary models serve both marketing and brand‑heritage functions. They celebrate a milestone while offering a limited‑run product that can command higher margins. For a niche manufacturer, leveraging heritage helps maintain relevance amid intense competition from traditional sports car makers and newer entrants.

Monterey Car Week will host the public debut of the Vanquish 25, where potential buyers and journalists can examine the vehicle up close. The gathering, known for attracting affluent collectors, may also reveal future bespoke offerings from the Q division.
